  • This comprehensive course is designed for healthcare workers interested in expanding their skills to assist with medications. The course integrates theoretical knowledge with practical lab experience and offers an optional job shadow practicum day for hands-on learning. Participants will explore the foundational principles of pharmacology, ethical considerations, and safe medication practices, preparing them for roles in diverse healthcare settings.

  • Theory (Virtual delivery):

    6 hours total

    • High school diploma or equivalent

    • Basic knowledge in healthcare or related fields

    • Current registration in a health-related program (preferred but not mandatory) .

    • Unregulated care givers can take this course. 

    • Anyone who has a genuine interest in healthcare and patient safety.

  • Introduction to Pharmacology: 

    • Understanding drug types and their uses

    Mechanisms of action, Medication Safety:

    • Preventing medication errors

    • Proper labeling and storage 

    Ethical and Legal Aspects:

    • Privacy and informed consent, 

    • Educating patients about medication regimens

    • Handling questions and concerns.

    Lab Practice:

    • Hands-on experience with medication administration

    • Simulated patient scenarios

    Optional Job Shadow Practicum

    • Observing professionals in a healthcare setting
